About HideMyLens
Last updated: January 2026
HideMyLens is a privacy tool built around a simple idea: the photos you share contain far more than what you see. Camera model, GPS coordinates, timestamps, editing software, serial numbers — all quietly embedded as EXIF metadata. Most people never know it's there.
Our mission
We exist to make metadata removal effortless, trustworthy, and genuinely private. No uploads, no accounts required to get started, no tracking of what you clean. Just a tool that does one thing well and gets out of your way.
How we're different
Most online EXIF cleaners work by uploading your photo to a server, processing it there, and letting you download the result. That model requires you to trust that the server deletes your file, doesn't log the EXIF data, and isn't compromised. We think that's the wrong trust model.
HideMyLens does all processing in your browser. Your photo bytes never leave your device. There's nothing for us to log, nothing for us to leak, and nothing for an attacker to steal.
What we store
We store only what's absolutely necessary to run the service:
- Your email and chosen name (to sign in).
- Your subscription status (to know if you're on Free or Pro).
- An anonymous rate-limit counter for guest usage (a hashed browser fingerprint — not linked to any identity).
We do not store filenames, EXIF data, processed images, processing timestamps, or any record of what you've cleaned.
Who we are
HideMyLens is an independent product. We're funded by Pro subscriptions, not advertising, not data resale, and not venture capital pressure to monetize attention. That alignment lets us keep privacy as a real principle instead of a marketing line.
